DETAILS // Installed at Tandanya until May 2006,
and travelling to Melbourne Museum in June 2006, Colliding
Worlds, First Contact in the Western Desert 1930-1984, displays
episodes of first contact between the Pintupi and Europeans 1956 - 1984.
The Pintupi
were
the last Aboriginal group to make contact with Europeans. This occurred
in western Central Australia between 1956 and 1984. Totalling
300 square metres, the exhibition incorporates 2 metre square ground
lightboxes, Indigenous artworks and graphic reproductions and objects
from the Pintupi tribe.
